An outside review says no

No new code was built, but an independent review of everything that ships failed the game's art, and the three test failures from 8 October turned out to be a test bug rather than a game bug.

A review by people who did not make it

Nothing new was built and run on 13 October, so the completion scorecard did not move. The most useful thing that happened was an independent art review of everything that ships. Four reviewers, none of them the people who made the art, went through it and returned a fail.

Some of it held up well: the villagers, houses, trees and the title painting. The blockers were the kind that makers stop seeing:

  • Weapons that float off the hand in some attack frames, and one companion's weapon in the wrong hand on the west-facing side.
  • Two protester frames that are a head with no body, and a black rectangle behind the head of seven statues.
  • Magenta key-colour spill on 100 of the 104 weapon icons. The colour used to cut a sprite out of its background is still showing at the edges.
  • Boss frames cut off by their cell edges, and several different pixel scales in one world.
  • A generated design map that ships in the build, which should never have been in it.

No art was changed that day. Each fix needs the owner's yes, and the provenance record for the art was corrected to match what the review found.

Three failures that were not the game

Three tests had failed on 8 October. All three trace to one test-isolation bug, a conversation left running by an earlier test, and not to a game bug. The Balloon Graveyard's unpainted ground, which one of them flagged, is by design. Three test fixes were written but not run.

A decision about party size

The owner settled the open party questions. The party holds the hero plus five companions, six in all, and the boar fight in one companion's quest happens at dawn only. The reward names in the item catalogue stay as they are.
