OVERWHELM
Isometric pixel-art wave shooter where the horde never stops coming
About
Overwhelm is an isometric wave-survival shooter drawn in a 16-bit pixel-art style. You fight off wave after wave of aliens in an arena, picking up guns as you go and building a loadout from what the floor gives you. The enemies always head for the living. They do not park in a corner or circle you.
Both hands fire on their own, each at a different target. Any gun you find can go in either hand, and what you carry shapes a third attack, Overdrive, which is built from the pair you are holding. Weapons come in 13 frames, from pistols and shotguns to railguns and arcing lightning, and carry one of six elements: kinetic, fire, acid, cryo, shock and void.
A run is always four fighters. You play one and AI squad mates fill the other slots, or friends can join online and take them over. The game also runs with a controller. There are six arenas, each longer than the last, from 20 waves up to 69, unlocked by clearing the one before. The blood you spill stays painted on the ground for the rest of the run.
