MALCONVERGENCE

Dual-wield eight weapons and fuse them into 28 reactions

About

MALCONVERGENCE is a fast first-person shooter for PC, built in Unity. You hold a different weapon in each hand, fire them independently, and fuse any pairing of the eight weapons into one of 28 named reactions, each with its own behaviour. Chapter one runs from the storm approach to the Yorbis arena.

Movement is built for speed: air control, a slide that keeps its momentum, a directional dash with brief invulnerability, coyote time and jump buffering. Auto-targeting works per hand, so your left and right weapons can hold different targets, and aim assist can be set to Off, Classic or Strong. Enemies are mechs in three variants that fight as squads and seek cover. Each encounter must be cleared to open the seal ahead, and the chapter ends in a fight against Yorbis, a boss about 9.8 metres tall.

The interface is part of the world: segmented health, a shield, a radar, weapon cards, and an ammo count printed on the weapon itself. The environment, characters, weapons and sound are all generated procedurally, and the game contains no authored audio assets.

What is in it

  • Dual-wield with a separate weapon, ammo count and reload in each hand
  • Eight weapons that fuse into 28 distinct reactions
  • Slide, directional dash, air control and a high movement speed
  • Independent auto-targeting for each hand, with adjustable aim assist
  • Mech enemies in three variants that fight as squads and use cover
  • Health, shield, radar and ammo shown in the world rather than on a flat overlay

How far along

Vertical slice, 45 out of 100, ranked 14 of 17 on the progress ranking.

A first-chapter vertical slice builds to a Windows executable and plays with eight dual-wielded weapons and 28 reactions, with rough visuals, partial controller support and no saved progress.

Playable5/10

A Windows build dated 2026-09-07 exists and plays the first chapter, with a session checkpoint after each cleared sector.

Core gameplay5/10

The stress test passes all 28 fusion pairings with 0 errors and 0 exceptions, but the README says extensive balancing remains.

Content5/10

The slice has eight weapons and three mech variants, while several larger systems are listed as not built.

Art and audio3/10

A blind comparison scored the renders 29 to 43 against the reference art's 85 to 88 and lost all six comparisons, and nobody has confirmed that sound reaches the output device.

Stability5/10

The stress test drives every weapon, all 28 fusions, every mech variant and the boss in about 90 seconds with 0 errors, but perf runs on an Intel UHD 630 measured between 4 and 31 fps across quality tiers.

Release readiness3/10

Only a local Windows executable built on 2026-09-07 exists and the site data has no build or play link.

Assessed Oct 4, 2026. Based on some documentation and posts. This is the studio’s own assessment and it changes as the game does.
